The news media did a recent report on a study regarding online gaming and stress relief. They said that people who engage in fantasy type rpg's, are less likely to bring stress from work into there household environment.
Now my job isnt stressful, but I can truly understand where they came up with that deduction. |

Right now I'm clocking a LOT of hours on GW. I'm a jobless university student in search of a job, and when I do I won't log on as often. Anyways my classes start in a week and a half.
It's possible to have a life even if you're a hardcore gamer... I manage my husband, classes, homework, friends, family and I generally game for 2-6 hours on weekdays. How? My classes are usually in the morning. I attend, I study after the class or do assignments while hanging out with my friends. I leave at 9:50 AM and I'm rarely back before 6 PM, sometimes later (9, 10 PM - I have movie nights, language exchange groups, study sessions, family dropping by, etc). Husband and I cook (well I attempt, then he sends me back to my comp because I'm a very lousy cook), then we usually eat at our computers. We log off anywhere from midnight to 2 AM, and a good 6 hours of sleep is enough for both of us. I guess that helps that we are both gamers and both of us have active social lives (we have similar schedules). He's usually home after me, since we go to different universities and his is a bit further from the apartment. But even though we're on two different games, we communicate a lot. So yeah... I have a life. And I'm a big gamer >_>. |

My girlfriend is all the company I need. Full stop. Even then I have isolated myself and been totally content with it for months at a time in the past. Mistrust isn't what secludes me; I just don't NEED other people to justify my life. You only need "friends" because you're weak when alone; I am not. As for my girlfriend and how I treat her... She and I go wandering often enough, but going "out to dinner" isn't something either of us wants to do and it wouldn't go well either. You might suppose you know better, but you're wrong. Oh, and for the record... Chess, chequers and card games aren't sports. While to some extent they might require rational thinking.... it is in a pure and rather simplistic form and does very little to interest me. Such things are pastimes... for making time pass faster. I would not participate in them for actual entertainment. Figure skating and swimming? No brainpower needed there. Flatworms can swim and pond-skaters can skate. They're hardly intelligent. |

Agree on Chess and Chekers yeha you might be right
Swimming thinking not ok lets proove you wrong When to do a FLIPTURN(you know what that is right? i sepose you are not a Profffesional swimmmer couse your legs and arms are incapable of swimming due to your secluded use of keyboard and sitting on the chair) I do it know i loose time i do it then i gain speed but loose my breath i do it in the middle then i wont get any advantage either==== You think when to do a flip turn When to make a stroke(Movement with the hand you use to proppel yourself in the water) Do it now or wait a second do it hard or easy to save energy but increase spead or just use my lags and let my arms rest for sec=====You thik how to do a stroke. Breathing(A costant motion of your lungs to provide you with air so you can live) Should i take breath now or wait another 5 sec wait do i need to take a breath i can go some more wait if i take the breath now i will have more before the flipturn which i will do to make myself faster after with i will do a stroke with my hand to proppel me faster inthe water and thus winning the 1st place and recieving gold medal and certificate instead of butcramp from siiting OOh yeah Love Swimmin Love guild wars love chiling with friends wooot woooot THINK BEFORE YOU SAY becouse obviously you DONT you have no knowladge of swimming or any sport from what you are sayin gues what Sitting infron of PC or tv not alwas rewquires THINKING either. wow, Nice troll post. Ilove these kinds of posts.
As to the question, I think I have a life: Married, 8mo old son, full time job and I am a graduate student. And I still manage to log on prety decent time on GW. How, simple I dont watch tv or anything like that. GW is my nightly entertainment. I usually get on the game after work, usually after dinner and after my son is ready for bed. Simply thinking that people who play games have no "life" is flat out retarted. In fact this whole thread you started seems like you are trying to feel better about your life by attacking our choices. To that, I say to you OP "get a life." Stop judging others when your still floundering for an exsistance. |

Heheh...
Well, I don't have a computer/internet at home so I can only play GW at college/uni/library or freind's houses; I have GW stored on a portable hard drive. I play when I can... on days when I don't go to work and don't have much work to do at college, heck yeah I can turn on GW for maybe even 12 hours+, if friends/facutly/librarians don't mind :P |

It entertains me when a person will make a thread like this to discuss someone else's lack of a life

8:00am-9:30am --> Wake Up, Exercise, Shower, Eat
10:00am - 6:00pm --> Work (I'm a science researcher - well summer internship - I'm a university student) 7:00pm -->Go Home, eat dinner, gym (if I didn't go in the morning), study for GREs 10:00pm - 3:00am-->Guild Wars (I've been living on 5 hours of a sleep a night for almost 4 years, and I'm totally fine) As for girlfriend, I had one for over a year but we broke up before I got Guild Wars (which was in May/June of this year) for various non-game related issues. Do I want another girlfriend now? No not really - not ready to be tied down again/yet (past relationships have taught me this). Do I have friends? Yes. Like myself, most of them work 8-10 hours a day - I do see them a couple times a week (i.e. I don't follow my schedule as listed above on those days). When school starts I'll be ridiculously busy with volunteering, working, interning and of course studying. So to play GW, I will once again sacrifice sleep. My roommates are my bets friends, so I'll see them often enough. |

Do I have a life? I dunno. I like my life, though.
I don't have a lot of friends, though a lot of people like me (not being conceited, I'm just not "disliked") I recently got through fighter pilot selections here in The Netherlands for the Royal Netherlands Airforce and so I'll be pursuing a carreer in that direction (fighter pilot). Training will start either this October or next February. I will still game a lot, whenever I have the time, because (apart from flying) it's one of my "passions". Like I said, not a lot of friends, and never felt I really needed friends. I don't often feel lonely and I'm pretty happy with myself. Ever since I first applied for the Airforce I also started working out again regularly and I find that can also really take your mind off things and it makes you feel far more "active", as one of the major problems I used to have in the past was thinking, over the weekends, "Dear God, I could've been doing so many more useful things with my time!" I used to feel quite embarassed about my gaming "addiction", but how is it different to what other boys/girls/men/women do with their spare time who don't play computer games? Ah well, dunno if I have a life or not, but like I said, who's the judge of that anyway? If you're happy with what you're doing, within certain limits, obviously, keep at it! |

This thread is f-in stupid.
I have a life. At least I think so. I have friends, I go out, I go to school, I do sports, the lot. But then again I don't play 6 hours a day. More like one. Then there's some people I know who game, and from what I see, they don't look like they have a life. There have been people with and without lifes before the computer even existed. There are now, and there will be years in the future when MMO's are a relic of the past. Gaming has very little to do with this. Saying gamers don't have a life is just about as stupid as saying black people are stupid. Sure, there are stupid people who are black, there are also a lot of stupid people who are white/yellow/we, and a lot of smart black people. There are also gamers without a life, and there are people without a life who don't play games, and then there are people who play games who do have a life. |

Yeah I agree with du bist knbk. The people who I see saying this are people in games who got their butts kicked and say U hav no lif no wonder U won!! It's like saying I play this game but I can't play as much as you so I'm maddd!!! What's life anyways? Going to work all the time? Get with the times, we live in the future. The internet is a important part of life now.

A moment enjoyed is never wasted. Who cares what it is you do as long as you're happy doing it? I only play GW once a week or so for an hour or two, but I'm happy while doing it, just like I'm happy while kayaking, playing guitar, reading, running, or doing any number of other hobbies.
This whole "having a life" thing is absurd. Do what makes you happy. Anyone who judges you for it isn't worth keeping around. |

I have a full time day job. I run a Tango dance event every Thursday nights, and I dance 3-4 nights out of the week. I play a few hours of GW after work and at night when I'm not dancing. Weekends I will play more.
So yeah, I have a life. |
